Isle Switch Pro SUP and Bixpy K-1 Motor First Impressions

Sometimes a kayak is too heavy to get in and out of the places I like to fish. Today, I’m excited to share my first impressions of the Isle Switch Pro Paddleboard, along with the Bixpy K-1 Motor. This is my second paddleboard from Isle, and I’m eager to see how it stacks up against the original Switch. Let’s dive in!

Unboxing the Isle Switch Pro and Setup

First off, Isle sent me the Switch Pro for a trial period. I’ll be using it throughout the summer on various bodies of water, from local lakes to the Ohio River in West Virginia, and even for inshore fishing at the Outer Banks. Upon unboxing, I was immediately impressed by the bright orange color and the integrated seat and foot pedal. This setup allows the board to function similarly to a kayak, offering both comfort and stability.

Transporting the Switch Pro is a breeze. It packs down into a single bag with rollers, making it easy to move around and fit into the back of a car. No need for a truck or roof rack like with a traditional kayak!

Getting Ready to Paddle

Inflating the paddleboard was straightforward, thanks to the included pump. While it’s a bit of a workout, Isle offers an electric pump, which I highly recommend, especially if you plan to inflate and deflate it frequently. The board feels incredibly solid once inflated, comparable to a hard foam surfboard but with a bit more give.

Isle is currently giving a free electric pump, and the Switch line-up is on sale as I write this!

The deck material on the Switch Pro is more aggressive, providing excellent traction. One standout feature is the new quarter-20 bolt mounting spot, perfect for attaching a GoPro or a fishing rod holder. The board itself is stable, measuring 11’6″ long and almost 3 feet wide, which is great for someone like me who occasionally struggles with balance.

But, the included seat and footrest, plus the modular paddle system that allows you to create either a single-blade SUP paddle or a double-blade kayak paddle make it very effective as a kayak as well. Which is exactly why they named it the Switch!

The Coolest Feature: The Bixpy K-1 Motor

What sets the Switch Pro apart from other paddleboards is its compatibility with the Bixpy K-1 Motor. Mounting the motor was a bit of a process, but the included instructions made it manageable. Once attached, the motor significantly enhances the paddleboard’s versatility. It’s quiet, powerful, and easy to control, making it perfect for navigating both calm and slightly rougher waters.

I was particularly impressed by how the motor’s steering system worked. It’s responsive and allows for precise maneuvering, which is essential when fishing or exploring narrow waterways.

As a bonus, it’s even available on Amazon!

On the Water

Out on the water, the Switch Pro performed exceptionally well. It’s incredibly stable, even when standing up—a big deal for someone like me who’s always cautious about balance. The motor made a noticeable difference, especially when paddling against the wind. It’s powerful enough to keep you moving smoothly without much effort.

Standing up on the paddleboard was surprisingly easy, although I did take extra care not to tip over. The wide deck and aggressive grip material gave me the confidence to stand and paddle without fear of falling.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Isle Switch Pro Paddleboard, paired with the Bixpy K-1 Motor, offers a unique and versatile experience. Whether you’re paddling on a calm lake, exploring rivers, or fishing inshore, this setup provides stability, comfort, and convenience. The motor adds an extra layer of functionality, making it suitable for various water conditions.
